JAIPUR: The southwest monsoon finally entered Rajasthan via
Udaipur on Tuesday noon, bringing mild to moderate showers to Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Banswara, and other parts of the state, confirmed the Jaipur Met office. The meteorological department predicted the monsoon to cover all parts of the state by July 1.
By evening, it had covered Udaipur and Kota divisions.
It also advanced into more parts of the North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and parts of southeast Rajasthan.
Radhey Shyam Sharma, director of the city Met office, said the conditions are favourable for the monsoon to advance into other parts of the state in the next three to four days. Heavy
rainfall is expected in isolated areas in Kota and Udaipur divisions in the next 24 hours.
Heatwave still in west Raj, 45°C in JaisalmerBadi Sadari in Chittorgarh and Raipur in Pali recorded 60mm rainfall, the highest on Tuesday. Many places in Udaipur, Dungarpur, Chittorgarh, Kota, Jhalawar, Bundi, Baran, and Banswara districts also saw rainfall ranging from 10 to 50mm.
However, the western part of Rajasthan remained under severe heatwave conditions. Jaisalmer was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 45°C.
Jaipur residents woke up to showers in the morning, which saw a minimum temperature of 27.8°C. The afternoon was pleasant, with the maximum reaching 37.2°C. The city also witnessed scattered rainfall in the morning.
