ALWAR: Three leopards were electrocuted after coming in contact with a severed power line in a forest in Alwar district on Friday night.
The incident occurred around 10pm on Friday in the vicinity of Amritvas village in the Alwar forest division, said officials. One adult leopard and two cubs died by coming in contact with a power line that had snapped, they added.

The deputy conservator of forests in Alwar, Rajendra Kumar Hooda, confirmed that the deaths were caused by a severed power line.
Forest department officials were alerted about the death of the three leopards by the electricity department personnel. A team of forest department officials rushed to the site and recovered the carcasses, which bore conspicuous burn marks that resulted from electric shock.
The three carcasses were transported by a forest department team to the Kati Ghati site in Alwar forest range for post-mortem by a medical board. The carcasses were then cremated in accordance with stringent forest regulations.
