Rajasthan Congress chief, 5 party MLAs, 17 others booked for inciting Kota crowd
KOTA: Hours after a Congress protest against the BJP-led centre and state govts over issues like NEET-UG paper leak, poor power supply and law and order, the Kota police late Monday night booked five Congress MLAs, including leader of opposition (LoP) Tikaram Jully and Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC)chief Govind Singh Dotasra.
In the two separate cases lodged, the city police also booked a group of 17 Congressmen, including party’s parliamentary candidate Prahlad Gunjal, for inciting crowds and interrupting govt functioning during the protest.

The first FIR, based on a report by Nayapura SHO Laxmi Chand, charges Dotasra, Jully, Hindoli MLA Ashok Chandana, Pipalda MLA Chetan Patel, Keshoraipatan MLA CL Premi and Kota Rural Congress president Bhanu Pratap, along with one unidentified person.
Dotasra and others face allegations of provoking a crowd of around 2000 people to forcefully enter the collectorate premises and, when stopped at barricades, manhandling the policemen and using abusive language. The protesters were eventually dispersed with water cannons.
“The case against MLAs has been forwarded to CID-CB for investigation, while we have begun investigating the case against 17 Congress workers,” DSP Rajesh Soni said on Tuesday.
A second FIR was registered based on the report by head-constable Sher Singh, also at the Nayapura police station. This FIR, similar in nature, was filed against Congress parliamentary candidate Gunjal, Congress’s Kota Rural president Bhanu Pratap, Kota city president Ravindra Tyagi and 14 other party workers, including one unidentified person. Police have begun investigations in the matter.
