Jaipur: Former state president Satish Poonia has been appointed as the party’s state in-charge for
Haryana, signalling the party’s endorsement of his leadership.
His appointment follows his performance as the election incharge during the Lok Sabha polls in Haryana.
With the assembly elections slated for October this year, Poonia confronts the challenge of unifying factions within Haryana
BJP and restoring trust among farmers, a pivotal voter base that turned against the BJP in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
The appointment heralds a resurgence for Poonia, who was endeavouring to maintain his influence within the party after his defeat in the Amber assembly segment elections in December 2023.
Party insiders perceive his elevation as an acknowledgment of his triumph in securing victories in five Lok Sabha seats, a feat at a time when the party was expected to cross not even two seats.
During his tenure, which coincided with the substitution of Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar by Nayab Singh Saini, Poonia extensively traversed the state, rallying party workers and fortifying their morale.
Poonia said, “I am immensely grateful for the opportunity. My experience on the ground during the Lok Sabha elections will undoubtedly contribute to our collective objective of securing a decisive majority in the forthcoming assembly elections.”
