JAIPUR: The North Western Railway is developing Bhatesari Khatipura as a satellite station in the city after increased traffic in the region. This station, which will act as a terminus, will reduce traffic load for Jaipur junction, said officials, adding trains will terminate and originate from this station.
“In the coming days, few Delhi-bound trains will no longer start from Jaipur junction now but from Khatipura station.
This will help in reducing the load of Jaipur junction, which is witnessing an increase in traffic. Khatipura station, being an important common point, will help cater to the population who will not have to travel all the way till Jaipur junction,” said Captain Shashi Kiran, chief public relations officer of NWR.
The estimated budget for the project is Rs 193.59 crore. At present, work in progress for four additional loop lines. Work for platforms like platform No. 4, 5, 6 have been completed and platform No. 1, 2, 3 are in progress. For the traction distribution depot, 85% of the work has been completed, said officials.
Work on the railway station is set to be completed by December, said officials.
