Truck mows down shepherd, 66 sheep near Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer: In a hit-and-run case near Devikot town in Jaisalmer district, a speeding truck mowed down a shepherd and his flock of sheep, killing 66 of them.
In the accident, two other shepherds had a narrow escape and 19 sheep were left injured.
Devikot police reached the spot and took the shepherd’s body to Jawahar Hospital mortuary. Police are trying to search for the vehicle, Devikot police checkpost ASI Deep Singh said.
Singh said the deceased shepherd, Hanif Khan, 30, was a resident of Malkon ki Dhani in Ramdevra.
The accident took place around 1am.
Khan’s family members gathered outside the mortuary and demanded that police register a murder case against the truck driver and that the govt provide compensation to the family.
