Three terrorists killed in Doda gunfight, 15 days after four attacks in Jammu zone

JAMMU: Security forces killed three terrorists in a gunfight in Gandoh-Bhaderwah sector of J&K's Doda district on Wednesday, with official sources hailing this as an encouraging outcome of multi-layered search operations over the past fortnight in the hilly, forested terrain of Jammu region following four attacks on June 9, 11 and 12.
"Based on specific intelligence inp-uts, a joint operation of J&K police and security forces was launched.
Contact was established with terrorists and a gunfight followed. Three terrorists were gunned do-wn," said a police spokesperson. The slain terrorists haven't been identified yet.
Sources said a J&K policeman named Aashiq Hussain was wounded with a bullet in his right leg and shifted to Doda govt hospital, where his condition is said to be stable. Jammu zone ADG Anand Jain, who was at the scene, confirmed the three deaths and the seizure of a large quantity of arms and ammunition, including an American M4 carbine. The offensive is ongoing, with security forces deploying drones and helicopters as more terrorists could be hiding in the area.
People have been restricted from approaching the site to prevent rumourmongering, circulating unsubstantiated news, and revealing the positions of security forces. SDM Arun Kumar Badyal warned that the circulation of fake news on social media will be dealt with firmly.
