Kanpur: District judge Pradeep Kumar Singh convicted a man, his two sons and brother-in-law for killing his wife in Chamanganj locality and punished them with life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 30,000 on each.
The convicted persons were identified as Mohd Shakir, his sons Shaqib and Arslan and brother-in-law Guddo Halwai.
According to Omkar Narth Verma, the additional district government counsel, one Tariq Shadab had lodged a report on June 11,2019 and had stated that his sister Shehala Parveen married one Mohd Shakir around 21 years ago.Shakib and Arslam were her sons.
Due to differences with husband Shehala, Parvin used to reside alone in a house given by her mother. Husband Shakir and his brother-in-law Guddo Halwai both used to torture her.
On June 11, 2019 one of the tenants informed him that Mohd Shakir, Shaqib ,Arslan, and Guddo Halwai had closed the doors of the room and were thrashing Shehala Parvin. When he reached there, he found the dead body of Shehala lying in the room. Reason behind the murder was that Shakir was asking Shehala to force her mother and transfer the ownership of the house in his name. He had divorced her just one year before the murder. The prosecution presented the case on a circumstantial evidence basis and proved its case. The prosecution had asked for capital punishment, but the court turned down the plea and awarded life imprisonment. tnn
