Kolhapur civic body earns ₹27crore from property tax since April 1, 2024
Kolhapur: The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation has raked in Rs 27.1 crore from property tax in the first three months of the new financial year which started on April 1.
The KMC floated concession scheme for the property owners to encourage them to pay the tax in the early period of the financial year. The concession of 6% was given to the property tax payers, the deadline to avail the concession ended on Sunday.
Civic chief K Manjulekshmi had ordered to keep the Citizens Facilitation Centres open on Saturday and Sunday, even though there was a public holiday, so that maximum number of property owners can get the concession.
On the last day, 1,093 citizens turned out at the CFCs and paid Rs 46.40 lakh tax.
The property tax is collected once in a year.
Since April 1, 60,488 property owners paid a cumulative whooping amount of Rs 27.10 cr. The KMC has set a target of Rs 105 cr to be collected from property tax.
For next three months, there will be a concession of 4% over tax amount if paid before September end, and thereupon for subsequent three months the concession will reduce to 2% till December end.
