PANDUA (HOOGHLY): Police on Sunday lodged a murder case and arrested two locals after a 25-year-old youth, who was assaulted in Pandua on June 27, succumbed to his injuries, .
Ashish Baul Das, also a Pandua resident, reportedly got into an argument with some locals, following which he was assaulted. According to Das's kin, he had gone to visit a fair on a bike.
While returning home on Thursday, his bike reportedly grazed a few locals.
The men were involved in a brawl among over the use of loudspeakers. The freak accident prompted them to severely assault Das. He was first admitted at a hospital in Pandua and then shifted to Chinsurah. As his condition deteriorated, Das was being shifted to a private hospital in Kolkata on Saturday when he died on the way.
