Bengal may set up garment park: Chandrima
Kolkata: Bengal govt was considering the possibility of setting up a garment park, state finance minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said at the inaugural ceremony of a garment sellers and buyers meet at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan on Monday.
Addressing the 56th Garment Buyers & Sellers Meet & B2B Expo organised by West Bengal Garment Manufacturers and Dealers Association (WBGMDA) from July 1 to 3, the minister exhorted garment manufacturers from different states to explore the Bengal market.
“You will get all support from govt for business expansion in this state. Our GSDP has jumped to Rs 1,700,000 crore from Rs 4,00,000 crore when we took office,” Bhattacharya said.
About 900 national and international garment brands are participating in the meet that is likely to log commercial transactions worth Rs 850 crore-Rs 900 crore in the wholesale market.
