KOZHIKODE: The principal of Gurudeva College of Advanced Studies at Koyilandy was allegedly assaulted by SFI activists on Monday afternoon over a dispute regarding the establishment of an admission helpdesk for first-year degree admission.
College principal Sunil Bhaskaran alleged that some students had approached him with the demand to set up a helpdesk at the college, and he had said that the matter could be discussed after noon.
"Soon around 10-15 persons from outside the college barged into my office room and attacked me," he said. The principal has sought treatment at Koyilandy Taluk Hospital.
Meanwhile, SFI activists claimed that it was the principal and staff secretary who had assaulted SFI office bearer BR Abhinav, who also suffered injuries during the altercation. Abhinav has been hospitalized. In response to Abhinav's complaint, police have filed a case against the principal and staff secretary of the college. Later in the evening, police registered a case against 15 students on the complaint of principal and staff secretary K P Ramesh .
