Worry about your face rather than others, IUML hits back at CM Pinarayi Vijayan

KOZHIKODE: In a sharp retort to CM Pinarayi Vijayan who on Saturday raised a concern about Indian Union Muslim League's face becoming that of Jamaat-e-Islami and SDPI, IUML state general secretary PMA Salam said the chief minister should think about his present face within his party and before the public rather than worrying about others' faces.
Salam said with even CPM central leadership as well as many leaders in state going into discussions if it was his (Pinarayi Vijayan's) leadership that was responsible for LDF's defeat, the CM should be examining if there had been any lapse and looking whether the face has been sullied.
"There had been strong criticism against the CM's style from within the CPM, leaving him very frustrated and he is targeting IUML to vent out his frustration. Instead of focusing on others' faces, the CM should have thought of his present face," Salam said.

IUML mouthpiece terms Vijayan as ‘Modi in Mundu
The IUML leader said he had sympathy over the predicament of the CM and his govt. Instead of rectifying mistakes committed by CPM, like in candidate selection in Ponnani constituency, and taking face-changing measures, the CM was trying to advise IUML, he said.
Vijayan had targeted the UDF ties for Lok Sabha polls at a public meeting of Kerala NGO Union state conference in Kozhikode on Satur day. “How will it be if the face of the League becomes the face of Jamaat-e-Islami and SDPI? Who was the most active for the League in this election? It was a combined move by all these mentioned groups. The Congress did not express any disagreement with this. Congress is not unaware of what Jamaat-e-Islami and SDPI are,” he said.

Meanwhile, IUML mouthpiece Chandrika termed Vijayan as “Modi in Mundu” and said while the central and state leader ships realized that it was administrative lapses that led to LDF’s devastating defeat in Lok Sabha polls, the chief minister and his public relations teams were yet to realize it.
CPM had not learnt any lesson even after its attempt to court a section of Muslim community failed like its earlier attempts to woo the IUML. “There won’t be any surprise if people give even a strong treatment to those who think that it is heroism to smash the mirror which reflects the real issues,” it added.
