JHANSI: A 20-year-old woman was shot dead by her jilted boyfriend at a beauty parlour where she had gone for bridal makeup on Sunday, hours before her wedding. Police have released the photo of the accused who is on the run, reports Arindam Ghosh.
The woman, Kajal Ahirwar, belongs to Madhya Pradesh's Datia district. Her marriage was fixed with a man from Chirgaon in Jhansi district.
The accused, Deepak Gautam, 30, who is the neighbour of the victim, had been harassing her for quite some time.
To avoid Deepak's presence, Kajal's family members had decided to solemnise the marriage ceremony from Jhansi.
On Sunday, while the baraat along with the groom was on its way, Kajal along with her cousin went to a beauty parlour in Sipri Bazar. Around 9.00 pm, Deepak suddenly barged into the parlour and began to drag Kajal out. The owner of the parlour somehow pushed him outside and locked its door.
Deepak did not stop and broke the glass pane with the butt of a gun he was carrying.
