Lucknow: The education department has revised its teacher transfer policy for the academic session 2024-25 wherein preference will be given to juniors (having higher number of service years) from teacher surplus schools.
Earlier, teachers had to earn points based on the number of years in service, disability and others for their transfer. Female teachers got extra points.
The process will begin on July 2 to transfer/adjust teachers to ensure rationalisation of pupil-teacher ratio.
Secretary, basic education council, Surendra Tiwari said: “We have done away with the point system. Instead, the focus is on rationalisation – to shift teachers from surplus schools and deploy them in deficit schools. Also, teachers with lesser years of service will be given chance to select schools in districts of choice, subject to availability.”
All transfers will be done online, added Tiwari.
According to the timetable released by the council, identification of schools with surplus and deficit teachers will be done till July 2. Teachers will be given a choice of 25 schools till July 11. The list of transferred teachers will be available till July 15. The transfers are scheduled to finish by July 19.
A committee led by district magistrate with chief development officer, principal, district institute of education and training (DIET), finance officer (basic education), and district basic education officer (BSA) will take care of the transfer/adjustment process.
