LUCKNOW: Though brutal heatwave has relented in parts of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, there was no change on Sunday in the city’s maximum temperature that was static at 39.8 degrees Celsius, 2.4 units above normal. The minimum temperature was 29.6 degrees Celsius — 2.9 notches above normal — against Saturday's 30.4 degrees Celsius.
After early onset in parts of south Gujarat on Jun 11 and making no progress for several days, southwest monsoon on Sunday advanced further into the western state.
According to India Meteorological Department, conditions remain favourable for the monsoon to cover some parts of Uttar Pradesh during next the 3-4 days. The IMD has issued a forecast of light to moderate rains and thundershowers in all districts of Gujarat next week.
On Monday, Lucknow is expected to have a partly cloudy sky with thundery development and one or two spells of rain. Maximum and minimum temperature are likely to be around 40 degrees Celsius & 29 degrees Celsius respectively.
