LUCKNOW: Two outsourced employees at the Hardoi mortuary were detained on Friday after an FIR accused them of stealing jewellery from bodies.
The accused include ward boy, Rupesh Patel and sweeper, Wahid. An FIR was lodged against them based on a complaint by deputy CMO Dr Pankaj Mishra.
They have been charged under IPC 404 (dishonestly possessing property of the deceased).
Dr Mishra has commended action against these two employees. The incident came to light four months ago after a female constable deployed in the police line complained to Hardoi CMO Dr Rohitash Kumar.
She alleged that after the death of her sister, during the post-mortem examination, gold earrings and a nose ring were stolen from her sister's body, said the deputy CMO.
