AGRA: Two people, including a doctor, have been booked after a 'gender change' surgery was allegedly performed on a young man without his consent in Muzaffarnagar,
Uttar Pradesh.
The incident surfaced when the 20-year-old victim, who had been missing for a month, contacted his mother from the hospital to narrate his ordeal.
The youth was brought to a private hospital by Om Prakash, who has been accused of sexually assaulting him for the past two years.
The victim's father lodged a complaint detailing these allegations.
It remains unclear whether the entire surgical procedure was completed before the victim reached out to his mother. Additionally, it has not been determined if the hospital regularly performs gender reassignment surgeries.
The case has been registered at Mansurpur police station under sections 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 420 (cheating) and 377 (unnatural offence) of IPC, as confirmed by Station House Officer Ashutosh Kumar.
According to the police, Om Prakash brought the victim to the medical facility about two weeks ago.
In response to the incident, activists from the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), led by state vice president Niraj Pehelwan, organized a protest outside the medical facility at Begarazpur village on Wednesday, demanding action against the doctor and Om Prakash.
