Uttar Pradesh: Man arrested for allegedly killing one-year-old son over paternity doubts

NEW DELHI: A man was arrested in Rupaidiha for allegedly killing his one-year-old son over suspicions that he was not the child's father, police reported. The arrest followed a complaint by the man's wife, who found the child unconscious on Thursday; the child later succumbed during treatment at a hospital.

SHO of Rupaidiha Police Station Samsher Bahadur Singh stated, "The mother has accused her husband one Sujit for the murder. The body of the minor has been sent for post-mortem examination."

Following the complaint, the police filed an FIR under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code against Sujit and apprehended him on Friday.

"As per preliminary investigation, it was found that Sujit doubted the fidelity of his wife and used to say that the minor boy was not his child, so he killed him. A probe into the matter is underway," said the SHO.

Further investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
