LUCKNOW: A woman, who was the main witness to her husband’s murder, was attacked in Amethi last week and succumbed to injuries at a hospital on Monday.
Kanchan Singh, 44, was attacked on June 28, allegedly by the killers of her husband to stop her from giving testimony against them in the court.
In his FIR, Kanchan’s son Shivendra accused four persons — Chandraprakash Singh, Vikram Singh, Dharampal Singh, and Gyan Singh — of his mother’s murder.
The same men are accused in the murder of Shivendra’s father Brijesh Singh.
Amethi SP Anup Singh Kanchan’s postmortem done by a panel of doctors could not determine the cause of death from any injury and her viscera has been preserved for further examination.
Brijesh Singh was murdered on Jan 27, 2021 in front of Kanchan.
Shivendra alleged that the four accused attacked his mother on June 28 afternoon. “Some locals alerted me and I rushed to the spot. The accused opened fire at me and fled. I took my mother to a local health centre where doctors referred her to the district hospital,” Shivendra said.
Following their father's death, Kanchan Singh took care of her two sons, Shivendra Pratap Singh (22) and Brijendra Pratap Singh (18).
Shivendra, 22, is pursuing MSc while his brother Brijendra, 18, is in graduation. The siblings lived with their mother and grandfather Kamlesh Singh.
