Madurai: Tuticorin district collector G Lakshmpathy and Srivaikundam MLA Oorvasi S Amirtharaj gave away compensation cheques of `3 lakh each to the families of three women who died in a road accident at Mukkani village near Eral. P Nattar Shanthi, C Amaravathi and K Parvathi were mowed down by a speeding car while they were collecting water from a tap near the highway on June 23.
S Shanmugathai, 55, suffered critical injuries and is being treated at Tuticorin Government Medical College Hospital. The collector and MLA met the family members of the three deceased women at Mukkani on Sunday.TNN
