The Maharashtra government has introduced an adopt-a-school policy, allowing private individuals, trusts, and corporates to take guardianship of schools for 5 or 10 years. Two categories of guardianship have been approved, general and name-based special guardianship. Donors interested in adopting a school must apply in person and applications will be processed by state-level and regional-level committees. Donors will not have any decision-making power in the school. The application process will go online in a few months.
