Mumbai, Thane sees drop in petrol and diesel prices after government reduces VAT

Fuel prices in Mumbai and nearby areas have seen significant reductions, with petrol now priced at Rs 103.44 per litre and diesel at Rs 89.97 per litre. These adjustments, announced by Ajit Pawar, follow the government's initiative to decrease VAT, reflecting a broader trend of decreasing fuel costs in the region.

MUMBAI: The price of petrol in Mumbai dropped by 77 paise to retail at Rs 103.44 per litre at the pumps on Saturday morning.
The price of diesel also dipped by Rs 2.18 per litre and was being sold at Rs 89.97 per litre at the Indian Oil pumps.
This has come a day after deputy chief minister and finance minister Ajit Pawar announced in the state budget that fuel prices will drop as the government has decided to reduce value added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel across Mumbai metropolitan region.

The petrol price in Thane and Navi Mumbai also dropped by 77 paise to Rs 103.64 per litre while the revised diesel price was Rs 90.16 per litre at the Indian Oil pumps.
The price at HP pumps was Rs 103.53 for petrol and Rs 90.06 per litre for diesel in these areas.
