Foresters launch tiger rescue operation
Mysuru: The footage of a tiger strolling near a village road in Mysuru taluk went viral, and has sent villagers into a tizzy. Forest authorities have launched a tiger rescue operation.
The big cat was photographed by a tempo driver on Mudalahundi Road near Varakodu Reserve Forest area, located in the outskirts of the city.
The forest department’s senior officials rushed to the spot with personnel and experts after being alerted by the villagers about the tiger’s presence.
In an effort to track the elusive feline, a drone was deployed following its initial spotting by the village residents. To aid in the search for the tiger, the forest department has set up night vision IR-GSM cameras and trap cameras throughout the area. Special teams have been formed to conduct combing operations, informed foresters.
As a precautionary measure, a dedicated team has been deployed at the local Morarji Desai Residential School and College to ensure the safety of the students. Villagers have been cautioned against venturing out during the night and early morning hours. To raise awareness among the locals, pamphlets have been distributed in the nearby villages.
Mysuru DCF Basavaraja KN informed that special teams have been formed to rescue the big cat.
