Nashik: The Dhule forest department conducted an anti-enchroachment drive against the settlements and huts on reserved forest land on Saturday.
A team of 130 forest officials and 225 police personnel removed 70 illegal huts near Boradi village in Shirpur Taluka of the Dhule district. Before the drive, the forest department discussed and advised people living in those huts to voluntarily remove their huts.
The anti-encroachment drive was carried out under the guidance of the conservator of forest, Dhule, Ninu Somraj; Dhule district collector Abhinav Goel; superintendent of police, Dhule Rural, Shrikant Dhivre; and deputy conservator of forest, Dhule forest division, Nitin Singh.
Nitin Singh, DCF, Dhule forest division, said they conducted the drive in the forest areas on Saturday, razing 70 huts that had come up on forest land in February. Tight police security was employed to maintain the law and order situation.
