Poor infra in non-MIDC areas upsets Nashik industrialists
Nashik: Industrialists who have their units in non-MIDC areas, such as Wadiwarhe, Gonde, Janori, and Dindori, are grappling with various infrastructural challenges, including deteriorated roads, non-functional streetlights, and inadequate water supply.
These industries are urging the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to take control of these areas and provide enhanced infrastructure.
The Nashik Industries and Manufacturers’ Association (NIMA), an apex body of the industries in the district, has decided to approach state govt.
The industrialist point out that while the state has introduced infrastructural schemes, the required contribution from the industries, amounting to 25% of the total project cost, is excessive and beyond their means. Nikhil Panchal, the vice-president of NIMA, stressed on the severity of the infrastructural issues faced by industries in non-MIDC areas.
“The roads are not in a good condition and most of the streetlights in non-MIDC areas are defunct. Their maintenance is another issue.
As industries generate employment and contribute to the country's GDP, state govt should find a solution to the issues of industries in non-MIDC areas,” said Panchal. Manish Rawal, the co-chairman of the aviation committee at the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MACCIA), said the conditions under state govt infrastructural development schemes for non-MIDC areas are not favourable for the industries.

“Industries in non-MIDC areas have to contribute 25% of the total cost for infrastructural works. This is not affordable. We want state govt to either bear all the cost for infrastructural works or maintain infrastructure in the areas through MIDC,” said Rawal.
