Entrepreneurs meets Noida district collector over lack of civic amenities
NOIDA: After residential sectors, entrepreneurs from industrial sectors including Sectors, 5, 7, 10, Udyog Kendra 1 and 2, Ecotech 3 etc met the GB Nagar district magistrate Manish Kumar Verma at his Surajpur collectorate office on Monday evening to discuss the dismal conditions of basic civic amenities like lack of clean drains, functional roads, unauthorised encroachment, overbilled and unauthorised water bills to slow pace of power infra work in industrial sectors.
The DM directed concerned departments to address all the issues prioritising industrial sectors.
From repairing roads, and cleaning drains to fast-pacing power infra works, industry representatives under the banner of District Udyog Bandhu urged the DM for concrete action.
“We met DM Manish Kumar Verma in the presence of officials from different departments like the police, power, administration etc on Monday and apprised him of the poor condition of industrial sectors,” said Vipin Malhan president of Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA).
In the meeting Malhan apprised the DM that the roads in Udyog Kendra-1, 2 and Ecotech-3 in Greater Noida are broken, the footpaths do not have tiles and there’s no proper drainage of water in the area. The situation is similar in other industrial sectors like 5, 6, 7 etc.
Harish Joneja senior vice president of NEA adds that lack of cleaning of drains has resulted in drains being filled to the brim. “In Sector 10, the drains in C block are particularly in bad shape with waste and garbage in it. We urge the cleaning of these drains and also the construction of a higher wall around them with covers to deter dumping of waste in drains,” said Joneja.
Additionally, Mukesh Kakkar senior vice president of NEA said that entrepreneurs are facing daily difficulties due to the lack of a door-to-door garbage collection system in Greater Noida. “There is no routine collection of garbage in Greater Noida. Hence we demanded a streamlined process,” said Seth who also added that the condition of roads, drains and basic facilities in Site-4 and 5 of UPSIDA is pathetic.

Due to basic deficiencies in the electricity structure like breakage of electric wires, burning of transformers, and wires colliding with each other during a light shower to a storm, there is a constant problem of power supply in industrial sectors. “That’s mostly because of the slow pace of infra upgrade and repair work. This needs attention as daily outages of a couple of hours result in losses for especially small entrepreneurs,” said Malhan.
While Malhan maintained basic government subsidy to industries is yet to reach many entrepreneurs in the district, he added that on the road connecting Parthala Chowk to National Highway -9, in the Chotpur village area, there is a situation of daily traffic jams on both sides of the road. “This is due to the widespread encroachment by thela, patri bazaar, battery-operated autos etc. Despite complaints to traffic police earlier, the situation continues as these vendors and drivers keep coming back on the spot,” said Malhan.
After listening to the above problems, DM Manish Kumar Verma instructed the departmental officers to solve the electricity-related problems by holding a meeting with the officials of NEA soon. He also instructed the police officers to deal with the traffic jams on the roads.
For the repair of roads/drains, the officials of the authority’s public health department informed that due to the election code of conduct, the tenders could not be issued. But now the tender is expected soon and the work of road and drain repair will start soon.
Others present in the meeting include Sharad Chandra Jain treasuer, Mohan Singh, Rajendra Mohan Jindal, Ajay Sareen vice presidents, and member Asim Jagia of NEA. There are over 16000 small and big industries in Noida spread across over a dozen sectors in different parts of the district.
