Waste, water & lack of community hall: What ails this Gr Noida sector
Waste collected after cleaning drains has been left by the side of this road in Sector 3 for a month
NOIDA: Plagued by persistent civic snags that go from untended construction and demolition (C&D) waste, a shortage of water which has resulted in a persistent water crisis, a lack of horticulture work, to untended garbage that remains dumped at various spots across Sector 3 of Greater Noida West, residents have said that even after 14 years of allotment, the sector still awaits a commercial complex, a community centre, and maintenance work in the parks.

“We have been experiencing a water crisis for a while now as there is very low water supply in the sector. Many times, even that is not available. As a result, overhead water tanks on the roofs of houses remain dry as water does not reach the tank due to low water pressure. Apart from that, while GNIDA has begun getting the drains cleaned, the silt from the drains has been left on the roads for the past month. Now, whenever there are rain showers, the drain silt slides back into the drain, which further results in water clogging,” said Deo Raj Tiwari, a resident of Sector 3.
Tiwari further added that no horticulture work has been done in the sector. On the internal roads of blocks B, C, and D, trees have not been planted, parks are not maintained, and they lack fencing.
Apart from that, he said that regular collection of waste is not carried out as well. While the internal blocks of the sector lack connectivity, Tiwari said that the sector also awaits a commercial complex and a community centre. Another resident named Rahul Tripathy said, “The situation has gone beyond control despite repeated complaints to GNIDA. The authority has not given any attention to the minimum civic amenities.”
Meanwhile, officials from the Greater Noida Authority said that silt from the drain is picked up once it is dry and the same will be done soon. Other maintenance work is also in the pipeline, officials said.
