Pump snag hits water supply in many Greater Noida sectors
Greater Noida: A motor pump of an underground reservoir in Sector Eta 1 of Greater Noida broke down on Monday morning, hitting supplies in various sectors including Delta 1, 2, and 3 as well. Residents of these areas had to rely on tankers for their daily supply. Several other sectors in Greater Noida reportedly experienced low water pressure and dirty water.
At 7am on Monday, Vinod—the pump operator at Sector Eta 1—informed the residents that the motor pump of Sector Eta 1 UGR had broken down.
“As a result, there would be no water supply until it is repaired,” he said.
Residents of the sector were also plagued by dirty water supply and low water pressure for the past few days. Deepak Bhati, RWA president of Eta 1 said that in addition to this, pipe leakages are resulting in water wastage. Cases of pipeline leakages were also reported from Sector Alpha 2 commercial belt, Beta 1 and 2, Delta, etc.
Alok Nagar, RWA general secretary of Sector Delta 2, said that there was no water supply on Monday. “Residents were dependent on tankers for their water needs because it was the first day of a working week. Other times too, the water problem is acute in the area,” said Nagar.
The issue has been persistent, and residents of several sectors are complaining about the quality and timing of the water supply. “The water supply pressure in the sector is low most of the time, and the residents of the sector have to bear the brunt of it. The motor pump from where the supply comes is not working, due to which the supply has been shut down since this morning. People are forced to depend on water tankers,” said Nagar.
RWA general secretary of Sector Delta 1, Rishipal Bhati, said that no supervisor from the authority is acknowledging these problems and requested GNIDA CEO to instruct officials to run a ‘no water wastage’ campaign in the city.
