Pune: As many as 20 warkaris from Parbhani got injured after a pickup truck carrying them turned on its side at Shivshambho Nagar in Katraj around 12.30am on Sunday.
Later in the day, a 73-year-old warkari filed a complaint against the truck driver pertaining to rash and negligent driving that caused injuries.
“The pick-up truck was hired by a group of warkaris from Parbhani to Wari.
It was heading to an establishment where the warkaris were supposed to spend the night,” senior inspector Dashrath Patil of Bharati Vidyapeeth police said.
“The truck was climbing a gradient when the driver lost control and it turned. Among the 20 warkaris, two sustained fractures and others suffered internal injuries and bruises on their bodies,” Dashrath Patil said.
