NEW DELHI: Pune Police have submitted their final report to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), requesting permission to treat a 17-year-old juvenile as an adult in connection with last month's tragic Porsche accident that claimed the lives of two individuals. The report includes eyewitness testimonies, CCTV footage, and evidence of alcohol consumption by the minor on the night of the incident.

According to Pune City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the detailed report supports the police's plea to try the juvenile as an adult. The minor is alleged to have been intoxicated while driving a luxury car, leading to a fatal collision with a two-wheeler in the early hours of May 19, resulting in the deaths of two tech professionals.
The deceased, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both 24 years old and from Madhya Pradesh, were struck by the speeding Porsche driven by the juvenile at Pune's Kalyani Nagar junction around 2:30 am on May 19. The juvenile is currently held at an observation home in the city.
"The final report includes CCTV footage from the minor's residence and footage from two hotels where he consumed alcohol," said the senior police official. "In the footage, he is seen consuming alcohol at pubs and at his home, as well as behind the wheel of the car."
Pune Police previously arrested the parents of the minor, along with two doctors from Sassoon Hospital and three other individuals, on charges of manipulating the juvenile's blood samples after the accident. The grandfather of the minor was also arrested. All of them are currently in judicial custody at the Central Jail in Yerwada.
The police's decision to seek adult trial status for the minor hinges significantly on the documented evidence provided in the final report. The report aims to showcase the seriousness of the juvenile's actions and establish the conditions under which they occurred, laying the groundwork for their request to the Juvenile Justice Board.
The outcome of the police's plea to treat the juvenile as an adult in the trial could set a significant precedent in how similar cases are handled, stressing the importance of accountability regardless of age. The Juvenile Justice Board will review the submitted evidence and make a determination in due course.
