Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha reviews preparations of upcoming National Lok Adalat and Supreme Court’s Special Lok Adalat
RAIPUR: In an effort to resolve a large number of pending and pre-litigation cases, the National Lok Adalat will be organised across all district and tehsil courts, tribunals and High Court within the state on July 13. The Lok Adalat will be held at all district and tehsil levels across the state.
Reviewing the preparations of upcoming National Lok Adalat during virtual meet, Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha directed all Principal District Judges, Chairman Permanent Lok Adalat, Family Court Judges, CJMs and Secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to identify and dispose of maximum pre-litigation and pending cases in the National Lok Adalat.
He emphasized the need to focus on resolving cases that have been pending in courts for more than five and ten years.
The Chief Justice also stressed upon prompt service of notices to concerned litigants, whose cases have been identified for Supreme Court's Special Lok Adalat to be organized from July 29 to August 3, 2024. He also directed all Principal District Judges to take proactive steps to ensure necessary counseling of parties by engaging services of Senior Judges conversant in the subject matter.
Justice Gautam Bhaduri, Executive Chairman, CGSLSA encouraged the all judges to participate in the Lok Adalat with full enthusiasm and capacity. He urged them to work as a team and strive to exceed the number of cases resolved in the previous Lok Adalat.
Justice Sanjay K Agrawal also emphasized the importance of identifying and resolving a maximum number of cases through the Lok Adalat.
The National Lok Adalat is being organized for the second time in 2024 as prescribed by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi. It is noteworthy that the Special Lok Adalat is being organized at the Supreme Court to address settlement between parties whose cases are pending at the Supreme Court of India.
