Raipur: The chairman of the National Commission for Backward Classes, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, praised the Prayas Residential School and UPSC coaching programme run by the Chhattisgarh govt as he gathered detailed information on the implementation of state govt schemes for backward classes in the state. He stressed the need for proper implementation of both state and central govt schemes for backward classes.
People of backward classes should receive
benefits under reservation in private institutions as well as govt institutions, he stated during a meeting held on Saturday at the new circuit house.
Ahir chaired the meeting with top officials from various departments, including chief secretary Amitabh Jain and director general of police Ashok Juneja.
While reviewing the number of backward classes listed in Chhattisgarh, Ahir pointed out that out of 95 backward castes listed in the state, 67 castes are included in the central govt list. He recommended that a proposal be sent to the National Commission for Backward Classes to include other castes of the state in the central list.
Praising the Commission for Backward Classes established in the state, Ahir noted that beneficiaries will be able to systematically access information about other income sources.
