Saurashtra, Kutch drenched; Mundra gets 115mm rain
Rajkot: Rain lashed most parts of the Saurashtra region and Kutch region on Sunday resulting in waterlogging in several towns and villages. Mundra in Kutch received 115 mm rain while Morbi town recorded 76 mm between 6 am and 8 pm on Sunday.
According to sources, several villages in Mundra taluka have been inundated due downpour since morning. Many roads connecting the village were submerged in water making transportation difficult.
In Kutch district headquarters Bhuj, several roads were waterlogged due to rain affecting normal life.
In Morbi, 13 villages of Morbi taluka and eight in Maliya Miyana taluka were put on alert after the authorities released water from the Machchu 3 dam as it had reached the rule level. The dam has been witnessing continuous inflow of due to rain in the catchment area. Several low-lying areas of Morbi were waterlogged due to rain on Sunday.
Heavy to moderate rain was also recorded in Khambhaliya taluka of Devbhumi Dwarka district. The main market and business areas were waterlogged for a couple of hours. Due to the forecast of heavy rain, a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) arrived in Dwarka as a precaution.
