Rajkot: A 38-year-old man was murdered allegedly by his maternal uncle, aunt and a cousin at a village in Botad district on Thursday night. Dilip Khachar was killed at his house in Kariyani village, reportedly over suspicion of his alleged affair with his maternal aunt Manju Dhadhal.
According to DySP Maharshi Rawal, Devku Dhadhal, his wife Manjula and their son Suresh committed the crime.
They have been booked under relevant sections of IPC at Botad rural police station. Police were searching for the three accused.
The deceased’s elder brother Shivraj (43) said in the police complaint that Dilip had an illicit relationship with Manjula. There was also a dispute over property matters. The accused had threatened to kill Dilip.
It was revealed that Manjula had also an affair with Haresh Khachar, who frequently visited her home in Kariyani village. Dilip had seen these visits from his terrace, and this did not go well with Manjula and her family.
Dilip was attacked on Thursday with a blunt weapon on his head and other body parts, causing his death. The houses of the deceased and the accused are separated by a single wall.
Police said that Dilip’s friend tried to contact him over phone multiple times on Thursday. When Dilip did not answer, the friend visited Dilip’s home and found his body in a pool of blood.
During police investigation, it was found that Dilip lived alone as his parents had died. Dilip did odd jobs to survive.
