Five arrested for engineering student’s murder in Dhanbad
Dhanbad: Police on Monday arrested five people in connection with the murder of engineering student Amardeep Bhagat (26) last month in Dhanbad. SSP H P Janardanan said the youth was shot for resisting a robbery bid by a gang of five criminals.
The arrested criminals have been identified as Akash Ram, Prem Dome, Sunny Mandal, Mukesh Kumar and Bittu Kumar.
Police also recovered two pistols used in murder, cartridges and two bikes from the five. “The criminals have admitted their involvement in the crime,” he added. The gold ring and purse of Amardeep looted during the crime have been recovered.
It may be noted here that the bullet riddled body of Amardeep was found in the bushes near the Dhanbad Law College football ground on June 21. Police lodged a case on the basis of a written complaint by the youth’s mother who informed police that he had gone to meet two of his friends, including a girl, who had come from Bokaro. After preliminary enquiry, police detained them but later it was established that the murder was committed for resisting a loot attempt by criminals.
