Undertake mass tree plantation on NH medians, Bokaro DC instructs NHAI
Bokaro: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has received instructions from Bokaro DC Jadhav Vijaya Narayana Rao to initiate a tree plantation drive on medians of national highways in the district during the monsoon.
District transport officer (DTO) Vandana Shejwalkar was also directed by the DC to conduct an anti-encroachment operation on national highways, ensuring that the primary roads remain unobstructed.
On Saturday, the DC presided over a District Road Safety Committee meeting at the collectorate.
At the meeting, Shejwalkar spoke about road accidents resulting from encroachments near Ukrid Moad, Ritudih, Sivandih, Dantu Bazaar, Bahadurpur Chowk, and Petarwar Chowk on national highways 23, 32, and 218. The DC ordered a joint anti-encroachment effort involving NH officials, SDOs, circle officers, and police.
The meeting also addressed problems arising from goods vehicles travelling in wrong direction in Balidih-Radhanagar, and appropriate directives were issued. Jadhav called for the swift processing of compensation applications for road accident victims and the completion of outstanding cases. Police were instructed to promptly submit pending FIR documents related to road accidents. The health department was asked to ensure timely submission of postmortem reports of road accident victims and emphasize adequate primary and emergency treatment arrangements in health centres.
