Youth dies as ambulance rams bike
Krishnagiri: One youth died and another was injured after an ambulance rammed their bike near Hosur here on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as V Harish, 20, of VOC Nagar in Hosur, who was riding the bike. His friend S Mohan, 20, also from VOC Nagar, suffered multiple fractures and is under treatment.
Around 10pm, Harish and Mohan were returning home from work on a bike when a 108 ambulance rammed their vehicle near the Hosur-Rayakottai state highway.
The ambulance fled the spot. “Harish succumbed to his injuries on the spot while Mohan survived,” an officer from the Hosur town police station said.
Police later arrested the ambulance driver, identified as P Naveen Kumar, 29, of Hosur, after scrutinizing CCTV camera footage. “The accident occurred when Naveen was rushing a patient from Kelamangalam to the government hospital,” the officer added.
A case has been registered.
