Orange alert for heavy rain issued in Himachal Pradesh for today

SHIMLA: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the warning of heavy rain for two days in Himachal Pradesh and has issued an orange alert for Tuesday and a yellow alert for Wednesday. The weather is expected to remain bad in Himachal till July 7.
According to IMD’s Shimla Centre, heavy to very heavy rain, thunderstorms with lighting will occur at isolated places on Tuesday and heavy rain and thunderstorms with lighting are likely at isolated places on Wednesday.

There is a yellow alert in place from July 3 to 7. The warning of localised flooding of roads and water logging in low-lying areas has also been issued.
Shimla remained cloudy on Monday with light sunshine. During the last 24 hours, 38.2 mm rainfall was recorded in Paonta Sahib, Bhoranj 28.4 mm, Kangra 11.2 mm, Manali 10 mm, Dehra Gopipur 6.3 mm, Pachhad 2 mm, Bilaspur 2 mm, Kandaghat 1.1 mm, Sundernagar 1 mm, Dhaula Kuan 1 mm and Nahan 1 mm. Himachal has experienced 49 percent lower rainfall than normal in June. From June 1 to 30, 51 mm rainfall was recorded but 102.5 mm rainfall is considered normal during this period. Hamirpur, Kangra and Chamba districts have received very less rainfall.

Delhi-NCR experienced heavy rainfall, easing the sweltering heat. IMD issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms. Skymet predicts monsoon between June 28-30. In the previous year, monsoon arrived on June 26 with initial showers on June 30. Minimum temperature in Delhi stood at 28.6 degrees Celsius amidst the rainy weather.
