Terrorist killed in Uri infiltration bid
Srinagar: A terrorist was killed during an anti-infiltration operation along the Line of Control (LoC) at Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said Sunday. The gunfight started late Saturday after a search in the Bajrang-Uri sector following specific information about some terrorists trying to sneak across the LoC, the officials said.
Confronted, the intruders opened fire on the forces, triggering the gunfight, they added.
The slain terrorist is yet to be identified. “Operations are continuing,” the Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps posted on X. Unconfirmed sources had initially mentioned two terrorists were killed but only one body was found at the spot.
The anti-infiltration drive comes four days after Usman, a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative, was shot dead along with an accomplice in an encounter in Baramulla’s Sopore. An army jawan and a cop were injured.
Meanwhile, J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said terrorism is breathing its last and this has made our neighbour, the exporter of terror, desperate, said . Covertly attacking Pakistan, he said the recent terror acts are a sign of our enemy's desperation.
