Man cheats retd cop’s wife of 3.91cr

Surat: Umra police have registered a Rs 3.91 crore cheating complaint against Varachha man Mansukh Borad for allegedly cheating Prabha Patel (57), wife of retired police officer Kanti Patel.
Borad had assured Prabha and her sons that he would sell 24 flats worth Rs 24 crore and make payment. However, Borad failed to do so which resulted in Rs 3.91 crore loss to Prabha and her sons.Prabha’s son Mehul and his friend launched ‘Sparsh flats’ in Vesu in 2015. But the flats could not be sold. So, Borad assured Prabha that he would give land and cash in exchange of the flats. However, the deal could not be materialised.
One day, Borad offered to buy all 24 flats for Rs 24 crore. He told Prabha to ask Mehul and his partners to make an agreement. But Mehul and his partners refused.
However, Borad convinced Prabha and Kanti that he would give money. So Prabha told Mehul to go for the deal. Borad got an ‘agreement to sell’ (satakhat) for 24 flats in name of former deputy mayor Nirav Shah and his relatives. Borad got Rs 10 crore in interest from Shah in exchange of the deal. tnn
