Viral video captures 2 men drowning in sea at Jampore
Surat: Two days after the Daman district administration banned entry of people into the sea at the beaches of the tourist destination till Aug 31, a shocking video of two men drowning at Jampore beach went viral on Friday. The video shows how risky the sea could turn.
The video shows two men getting drowned after they were smashed on the wall of the seafront promenade by the gushing waves.
Many people were present at the spot and some of them tried to rescue them but in vain.
The video is of Sunday. The two who drowned were Kamlesh Kushwaha (30) and Arbaz Ali (27). They were from Tapi.
In the afternoon high tide, water started rising and the water came up to the promenade. The two men were caught off guard.
People present at the seafront suspended a ring buoy from the promenade to save the two men. The men tried to catch it multiple times but they could not hold on to it. Powerful waves from the sea smashed the two men on the wall of the seafront when they were being pulled out. Soon, they were pulled into the sea.
On Saturday, another death due to drowning was reported at Nani Daman beach in Daman. The person was yet to be identified.

Following the deaths, the district administration issued prohibitory orders against venturing into the sea water. Visitors, fishermen and locals are prohibited from entering into the sea for swimming, bathing, fishing or taking selfies.
No lifeguards have been appointed at the beaches of Daman where thousands of visitors reach every weekend from Gujarat and Maharashtra.
