Trichy: A total of 25 passengers sustained injuries when the minibus on which they were travelling overturned in a roadside pit at Venkatesapuram near Thuraiyur in Trichy on Friday. District police said the bus was proceeding from Thuraiyur to Kaveripatti when driver Manikandan lost control of the vehicle around 11 am causing it to overturn.
Local people rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers including men, women and children.
They sustained minor injuries and were rushed to the govt hospital in Thuraiyur where they were receiving treatment. Their condition was reported to be stable. Thuraiyur police registered a case and are investigating. The authorities are yet to determine how the accident happened, but eyewitnesses suggest that the driver may have been speeding TNN
