NCC nat’l shooting contest from today
Trichy: Trichy is set to host its first Inter-Directorate Sports Shooting Competition on Tuesday. Organized by the Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry & Andaman Nicobar (TNP&AN) NCC directorate in Chennai and the NCC group headquarters in Trichy, the event will bring together approximately 300 NCC cadets at the Cadets Academy, Bikshandarkoil near Trichy.
Cadets from all 17 NCC directorates across states and union territories will participate in this annual event, scheduled from July 2 to 15.
Conducted under the supervision of National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) officials and a jury appointed by the director-general of NCC (DGNCC) in New Delhi, the competition will adhere to NRAI standards.
Participants will compete in junior men and junior women categories using .22 calibre rifles on a 50M range, with trials also slated for 10M air rifle and air pistol events. The top-performing NCC directorate will receive a trophy, and standout performers will have the opportunity to represent the DGNCC team at the All India G V Mavalankar shooting championship, anticipated in September 2024.
