Aspirants play musical chairs for MSU registrar`s post

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">VADODARA: On Monday, MSU vice-chancellor Ramesh Goyal appointed M M Beedkar as in-charge registrar, replacing university engineer N K Ojha who was holding charge since a month. Ojha was given the charge since Beedkar put in his papers abruptly citing health reasons early in February.<br /><br />Insiders said that Beedkar had put in his papers as the university`s syndicate members had declined to confirm him as a regular registrar during a meeting in January.During the syndicate meeting in January, the majority group of syndicate members had raised objections to the manner in which the selection committee had proposed Beedkar`s name for the post.<br /><br />Later, during another syndicate meeting last month, the syndicate members again rejected a proposal to re-consider Beedkar`s appointment as a regular registrar. The controversy, then, was surrounding a PhD degree that Beedkar had mentioned in his biodata. Beedkar had taken a distance course to get the PhD degree and that too without any guide.<br /><br />Goyal, however, told TOI that he had `requested` Beedkar to continue as in-charge registrar as Ojha had approached him stating that he would not like to continue with the job.<br /><br />While at one hand MSU`s registrar needs to pay attention on the legalities of the bogus admissions scam that has surfaced at Faculty of Technology and Engineering, on the other hand the administrative hands are changing at a time when a three-member search panel has been appointed to search for a new vice-chancellor for MSU.
