Labour contractor who fled with 1.5 crore nabbed
Vadodara: A labour contractor, who disappeared with Rs 1.50 crore of two private firms, was arrested by the crime branch on Friday. The accused Rakesh Gosai, a resident of Subhanpura, was nabbed near the Waghodia Road on the basis of a tip-off.
Gosai was travelling in a car that had a fake licence plate number. When cops questioned him about the car and the mobile phones he was carrying, he couldn’t give a satisfactory reply following which he was detained.

Gosai used to work as a labour contractor and was responsible for depositing the money collected for workers’ provident fund and GST in the bank. Gosai collected Rs one crore from a company’s office in Makarpura GIDC, and another Rs 37 lakh meant for employees’ salaries, transportation charges and provident fund from the same company’s plants in Por and Ramangamdi villages. He didn’t deposit the amount in the bank. tnn
