21-year-old woman raped, murdered in Andhra Pradesh; body found near railway track

VIJAYAWADA: A 21-year-old girl was raped and later murdered by an unidentified person near Chirala in Bapatla district. Her body was found near the railway track under Chirala rural police station limits. After getting information, district SP Vakul Jindal rushed to the crime scene and spoke to witnesses. He later briefed cops regarding the investigation.
Jindal said the victim was unmarried.“She stepped out of her house at around 5.30am on Friday but did not return home. Her worried family members went looking for her only to find her body near the railway track. They immediately called police,” he said.
After studying the body and the crime scene, police registered a case of rape and murder. The clues team has collected the victim’s clothes and sent the items for examination. “Five special teams are investigating the case. The culprits will be arrested soon,” the SP added.
Meanwhile, DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao briefed chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu about the incident, following which Naidu directed home minister Vangalapudi Anitha to visit the bereaved family. He also asked her to ensure that the culprits are brought to book.
