VISAKHAPATNAM: Residents in the tribal hamlet of Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district witnessed a peculiar wedding where the groom was getting married for the third time and his first two wives made all the arrangements. The wedding was held on June 25 in a remote region of
Andhra Pradesh. However, a video of the wedding went viral on social media, on Sunday.
According to reports, the groom, S Pandanna, a native of Kinchuru village under Pedabayalu mandal, had married first wife Sageni Parvathamma in 2000 but the couple were unable to have children.
Without hiding the fact that he was already married, Pandanna tied the knot with another woman, Sageni Appalamma, in 2005 and the couple was blessed with a baby boy in 2007.
The man lived with his two wives and one son in the same house. Later, when his second wife was unable to have another child, he decided to marry for the third time to have more children. Pandanna told his wives about this and they decided to make the arrangements thsemselves. Besides sending out invitations for the wedding in their names, the first two wives also put up posters of their husband with his third bride in the village to announce the wedding.
On June 25, Pandanna tied the knot for the third time amid cheers and catcalls.Locals said that Pandanna will live with his three wives in the same house. Residents in the area said that it is common for men to have two wives in some tribal regions. However, a man marrying for the third time is rare.
