CFV demands stop tree cutting in Vizag
VISAKHAPATNAM: The members of Climate Front Vizag and students of St. Joseph's college on Tuesday conducted a Rally and Awareness programme at Allipuram road in Vizag city to educate the public as well as put forward their demand to stop unnecessary tree cutting in the city.
They expressed that a huge tree was cut down just based on an assumption that the tree might get uprooted.
This action was carried out by GVMC under instruction of a local political leader who also harassed and tried to snatch phones of our team members when they asked questions about the tree cutting.
Trees are being increasingly cut down due to Smart City projects and other development issues throughout Vizag. Also, a lot of concreting around trees is happening. According to Court Order , there should be a space around the tree like breathing space for the tree to stand strong. If cutting of trees continues illogical beliefs and convenience, we will be left with a concrete desert, expressed the members of Climate Front Vizag Oindrila, Jayshree Hatangadi, Anjana, Sarath.
