IIM Visakhapatnam conducts faculty development programme for CFIs
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam, concluded a five-day faculty development program titled "nurturing future leadership programme."
The programme was held under the aegis of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme of the Union ministry of education for the faculty members of centrally funded institutions (CFIs).
Thirty faculty members from various CFIs throughout India participated in the programme.
NIT Manipur director Prof DVLN Somayajulu graced the valedictory session as the chief guest. He underscored the need for patience and time management in administrative roles in his address. He spoke about how to tackle academics and administration simultaneously at CFIs. IIMV director Prof M Chandrasekhar summarised the need for effective academic administration for the growth and competitiveness of CFIs.
Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education vice chairman Prof K. Rama Mohan Rao attended the inaugural session as the chief guest. In his address, he underscored the need for such programmes under the national education policy (NEP) 2020. To improve the quality of education, every faculty member should enhance specific leadership skills, not solely focusing on teaching learning materials, said Prof Rao.
Prof. M. Shameem Jawed and programme director Prof. Amit Baran Chakrabarti also spoke on this occasion. The nurturing future leadership programme aims to empower faculty members in present and future leadership roles in higher educational institutes.
